The Pierce’s Holiday 2015 Letter
As usual, we wish you all health, time enough to do the things you wish, and money enough to afford them. If you are in the area, please come by and see us! We would love to visit!
Barbara & Jerry Pierce
OMG, It’s 2016 already?? 2014 was a hard year and we are still adjusting to the loss of Claire and our furry friends. Thank goodness that 2015 has brought us many delights. Analiese Claire Koenig joined the Koenig clan and Barbara finished 16 years as a Redwood City Council Member. After being formally “termed-out”, she is now, Former Mayor, Barbara Pierce! (At least, this is how the City Clerk addresses her!) Amanda and Melissa Lopez are engaged. Our condo in Boise is turning into a great vacation home. No pets, lots of trips to Boise. Our roller coaster continues…
Our grandchildren are the love of our lives! Miles is an active 3.8 year old boy! Very much a boy - trucks and balls are the best part of the day. He desperately wanted a baby sister and Andrea/Martin did just what Miles wanted so Analiese was born on June 26, 2015. She had a rough start with a cataract in her left eye, so she needed surgery at 3 weeks old. She will be a pirate for a few years as they train her left eye. Long term things should be fine. Andrea continues teaching 5th grade science in Nampa and has lots of hobbies. Martin continues his work at Idaho Fish and Game with a new position across the street from our Condo.
Amanda has been living a quiet life in her condo. Long Beach is very good for Amanda, Melissa, Dani Dragonface, Ray Charles and Buddy Holly. Melissa and Amanda have exchanged rings and are engaged! Jerry gets to see Amanda/Melissa every few months during his visits to LA for work.
We did a family vacation with everyone coming to the warm waters of San Diego. Miles discovered he really likes the (warm) ocean and everyone else had a great time (no sunburns).
Jerry and Barbara often travel to Boise to visit the most-perfect-grandchildren in the world - and their parents. Boise is becoming the home away from home. Plans are in the works to remodel the kitchen for the Boise Condo!
Barbara finished her last year as a City Council member. After 16 years she was “termed” out. The future will be lots of other committees and non-profits. It will be wonderful getting more time back, but Boise and more committees will still fill the time. We were able to take Barbara’s brother and some friends to visit the Hetch Hetchy reservoir in Yosemite as part of Barbara’s participation in the water board. What a place! The only cabin on the lake.
Jerry has done a lot this year. He continues consulting for theater owners and Universal. He loves gadgets, photography, rowing, hiking, and camping. This year, in addition to taking the 74-7th graders to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, he went on a number of backcountry hikes, including 8 days in Yosemite backcountry, 9 days in Sequoia/Kings canyon (110 miles!), 4 days in Desolation Wilderness, and 7 days in Northern Arizona / Utah. Thousands of pictures and many miles on the trail. Next year to do it again!
